5 Family-Friendly Games to Play in Your Swim Spa

Swim spas are the perfect place to spend warm summer days with your family. Whether you have kids of your own or grandkids to entertain, the XL14000 swim spa by Four Winds Spas is sure to provide endless family-friendly fun.

Here at Bonnie and Clyde’s Pools and Spas, we believe that swim spas can be used for more than relaxation alone. We encourage you to have fun and use your swim spa to create lasting family memories. One of the best ways to do this is by playing family-friendly games, and we have some inspiration for you below.

1. The Great Boat Race

This game is perfect for families of any age. Either purchase small boat toys or spend time as a family crafting your own before getting in the water. Set the starting point and finish line. The goal is to get your boat to the other end of the swim spa before everyone else.

The catch? You cannot touch the boat. You must either blow, create waves, or use your creativity in other ways to get your boat to the finish line.

2. Bob for Pool Toys

This is a take on bobbing for apples, but with pool toys! Collect a large group of floating toys that are approximately the size of an apple and spread them out within your swim spa. Each family member should hold their hands behind their back while they attempt to pick out the toys using only their teeth.

The goal is to have the most pool toys in your corner by the time all of the toys have been collected.

3. The Loaded Treasure Hunt

This game takes some extra preparation, but it is well worth the fun. Find some small, sinkable containers that will sink to the bottom of your swim spa–bonus points if they are shaped like a treasure chest. Each container will contain either a gold coin or a skull. Tie your containers shut and sink them throughout the swim spa. Participating family members will quickly dive down and collect as many of the containers as they can.

The winner of this game is not simply who collected the most containers, but who found the most gold coins. While having the most containers increases your odds of winning, it does not guarantee success.

4. Swim Spa Basketball

Swim spa basketball provides a number of potential family-friendly games that all use the same equipment. For your hoop, there are a couple of options. You can either find a floating hoop that sits on top of the water, or you can set a hoop outside of the swim spa that overhangs the water. When choosing your ball, be sure to find one that floats – smaller-sized basketballs are preferable when being used in a swim spa.

You can use your new basketball setup to play a more traditional game of ball or get creative. The following game is a great example.

5. H-O-R-S-E: The Trick Shot Game

For this game, use your swim spa basketball setup discussed previously.

This trick shot game is usually played by two people. The first person attempts to make a basket in any way they see fit. If the first player makes the basket, the second player must try to make a basket from the same spot using the same technique.

If the second player successfully duplicates the first player’s shot, then it is their turn to make a shot however they want. If the second player misses, they receive the first letter in the sequence H-O-R-S-E. The game continues until one of the players receives all of the letters in H-O-R-S-E, this player is the loser.
