How to Perform Lawn Care Around Your Above Ground Pool

How to Perform Lawn Care Around Your Above Ground Pool

Summer has so many fun activities that allow you to get plenty of exercise — like swimming in your above ground pool and caring for your lawn. Sometimes the two together can get a little tricky. But you want to have a beautiful lawn to complement your beautiful pool. Bonnie & Clyde’s Pools & Spas has been popular in the Fort Worth Metroplex for over 40 years. Our experienced staff can help you understand how to perform lawn care around your above ground pool. Here are a few tips.

Mow but Move Meticulously

Cutting the grass is necessary if you want to have a beautifully manicured lawn. Each above ground pool is placed a little differently upon installation. If your pool is surrounded by grass, just mow extra carefully in that area.

Utilize the bag on your mower, if available, to collect the grass cuttings and keep them off of the lawn. This way, feet won’t collect them as swimmers head to the pool. As you mow, keep the mower blade facing away from the pool to avoid having debris fly up and damage the pool or get in the water.

Above Ground Pool Ladders & Steps are a necessity for safely entering and exiting the refreshing water. They are also helpful for scraping off excess grass that doesn’t make it into the mower’s bag. Be sure to move these useful tools when mowing if there is any chance of harming them.

Work on Worrisome Weeds with Watchfulness

Weeds will inevitably make their way into your grass and even around your pool. Instead of using a weedeater right along the edge of your above ground pool, you might need to use a different approach.

Because a weedeater could harm the pool, try using shears or another hand tool. You can pull the weeds out too. Just make sure to get the root. Weed killer is another handy tool for lawn care experts.

Let Landscaping Lend a Hand

There are some great landscaping elements you can incorporate into your backyard lawn. Landscaping will beautify the pool area and help you to have fewer pesky weeds. Adding it also means less grass to have to concern yourself with in that area.

Put in Pretty Pebbles

Gravel is an affordable material to use to surround your above ground pool. The color options and convenience make this method of pool landscaping very popular. Gravel is also helpful with draining water that collects around the pool.

Pave the Patio

Concrete is another material that you can use to surround the pool. This is a more permanent solution. You will enjoy its longevity and beauty. It will leave the area around the pool clean and clear of clutter.

Mix it up with Mulch

One more option for surrounding your pool with something other than just grass is some rubber mulch. This type of mulch is durable and stays put, which is perfect because you don’t want the mulch to blow into the water. You can plant your favorite shrubs around the pool as well to add a pop of low-maintenance color.
