The Maldives pool has massive 8″ extruded resin ledges and 2 piece resin caps that make the entire top of the pool an extremely sturdy and comfortable surface! The Hybrid description comes from the fact that this pool uses a combination of materials to make it luxurious, durable, and also to keep it affordable.
As our best selling pool, it combines a Rust Proof Full Aluminum Wall, resin bottom rails, upright boots, top ledges, and caps, and Resin coated galvanized steel uprights to create an above ground pool that will last for years as a standard on ground pool or as a semi inground pool. Why is an aluminum wall better for an above ground pool?
Aluminum walls are far superior because they don’t rust like steel. Most pools are made using steel for the structure. This steel, if left untreated, would not last long in a wet environment that contains chemicals like chlorine. For this reason, the steel goes through several galvanizing processes that make it more rust resistant, however the resulting coatings are only on the outside and a scratch on the surface will expose unprotected metal. Also, when the wall has the holes stamped in it for the skimmer and return, that also exposes unprotected metal and it the source of most pool failures. Because of this, some pools have an aluminum panel where the of the pool equipment is located. The Maldives RTR Hybrid 54 has a full aluminum wall which is slightly more in initial cost, but will generally outlast the steel wall by many years!
