3 Pool Supplies You Need for an Above Ground Pool
1. Pool Chemicals and Test Strips
The most important bit of supplies you need for an above ground pool are chemicals to keep your water clean, fresh, and ready for swimming at any time in summer. Pool chemicals you’ll want stocked in your pool supplies closet are:
- pH increaser and decreaser
- alkalinity increaser and decreaser
- a sanitizer like chlorine or a chlorine alternative
- a stabilizer (if not included with the chlorine)
- calcium hardness increaser
You’ll also want to keep test strips or test kits on hand, so that you can test your water frequently and know what chemicals you need.
You can find all of these necessary items at your local Bonnie & Clyde’s store. Our associates are happy to point you in the direction of the best option for your swimming pool.
2. Automatic Pool Vacuum
Since most experts recommend vacuuming your above ground pool at least once a week, at Bonnie & Clyde’s we suggest purchasing an automatic vacuum for your pool. While you can get manual ones, that means you’ll need to devote lots of time and energy to vacuum out your pool every week. If this is what you prefer, then go for it! Get that arm workout in.
But if you’re like us and are busy with your job, family, and life in general, an automatic vacuum cleaner will save you so much time and effort by doing the work for you. We have a large selection to fit any budget at all six of our locations.
3. A Ladder and/or Steps
Climbing in and out of an above ground pool without a ladder or steps would be interesting at best, but is ultimately just a huge hassle. If you have not already built a custom deck around your pool, then you will want to invest in a ladder or steps, for sure.
At our stores, we carry affordable step and ladder options for you to begin using your pool immediately. Even if you plan to build a deck around your pool later, having these now until it is completed will ensure you get the most use out of your pool this summer!
