How to Prepare Your Hot Tub for Summer

Summer is fast approaching, and now is a great time to decide what your plans for your hot tub will be. There are several plans of action you can choose from, and the experts in hot tub maintenance at Bonnie & Clyde’s Pools and Spas are here to answer all your questions when it comes to preparing your hot tub for summer.

Getting Ready for Summer Fun

Some people like to use their hot tubs only in warmer weather, using it for backyard entertainment or on chillier nights for a relaxing end to the day. If your hot tub has been in storage over the winter and you’re ready to break it out for summer vacation, now’s the perfect time to do so. Drain your hot tub of any water and give it a good scrubbing, both inside and out. Fill it back up and check that all pumps and filters are in good working order. You should also check that any computerized components, like the temperature gauge, are working properly.

Also, don’t forget to check your water balance and add chemicals accordingly. Spring is a great time to treat your spa with Hot Tub SERUM which will clean away any bacteria build-up that might be hidden in your hot tub’s pipes and plumbing. Keeping a Regular Soaking Schedule

If you’re the type to use your hot tub all year long, you won’t have much to do to prepare your hot tub for summer. It might be time for a good seasonal cleaning though, which means draining and refilling. You can also use this as an opportunity for any summer customization you may be considering, like a spa umbrella or hot tub surround.

For summer, you’ll probably want to turn the temperature down a few degrees. Not only will it be more energy-efficient, but the slightly cooler water will be perfect for warm weather. For a refreshing dip on a hot and humid day, consider lowering the temperature to 95°F or below. Or, turn off the heater entirely, put the jets on high, and enjoy some cool water therapy!

Need an easy chemical system for your hot tub that works even during the summer months? Come in and let us introduce you to @Ease, the once a month chemical system that takes care of your hot tub even when you are not using it.
